Ms. Alyssa McPherson is a certified, licensed athletic trainer who serves as the supervisor of the Indiana University ROTC Military Medicine programs, overseeing the health and wellness of cadets, cadre, and staff.
Ms. McPherson also works as an academic specialist in the Department of Kinesiology within the School of Public Health, teaching in the professional and post-professional athletic training education programs. Alyssa is concurrently pursuing her PhD in Human Performance with a concentration in Motor Learning & Control.
Previously, Ms. McPherson completed the Certified Athletic Trainer Residency Program at Emory Sports Medicine in Atlanta, GA. Here, she supplied clinical evaluation, practice management, and first and second surgical assist to the orthopedic and sports medicine surgeons. She also spent two years as a graduate assistant athletic trainer to the IU Ballet Theater while completing her MS in the IU CAATE-Accredited Post-Professional Degree Program.
Alyssa has a demonstrated interest in military and performing arts medicine globally, and has spent three seasons with DCI drum corps, providing medical care while on nationwide tours. Alyssa has also been actively involved in proposals to supply AT services to national cadet Advanced Camp at Fort Knox. Within Indiana University’s Athletic Training research labs, Ms. McPherson has assisted on studies gathering data used to inform cadet health and wellness.
